As temperatures cool into Fall, Los Angeles will still heat up with its slate of conventions, concerts and other special events throughout the region. Hotels Recently Opened

AC HOTEL DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES/MOXY DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES
Marriott International’s dual-branded AC Hotel Downtown Los Angeles and Moxy Downtown Los Angeles hotels have opened in a 37-story tower across the street from Crypto.com Arena. Totaling 727 rooms, the hotels, located on the corner of Figueroa Street and Pico Boulevard, feature a dozen new restaurants and bars, including Houston Hospitality’s Level 8 and the La Lo La Rooftop tapas bar on the building’s 34th floor, as well as 13,000 square feet of meeting space.. The Moxy property is Los Angeles’s first under that Marriott brand.

THE WINFIELD
Sonder Holdings has opened The Winfield in Downtown L.A.’s Jewelry District. The 125-unit property, which includes 34 studios and 70 one-bedroom units, was redeveloped out of what was the former flagship store for men’s clothier Foreman & Clark. The property features a Hilltop Coffee + Kitchen outlet, while each room comes with a full-size kitchenette and in-suite laundry.

THE DELPHI HOTEL
The Delphi Hotel has opened at the Flower Street site in Downtown that formerly served as the Standard Hotel. The 207-room property, which was originally built in 1955 and served as the headquarters of Superior Oil prior to its conversion to the Standard, houses the Delphi Lounge & Coffee/Tea Bar, which features La Colombe coffee and tea, and will include an all-day diner and a food-truck-inspired rooftop area.

HOTEL PER LA
Hotel Per La has opened at the former site of the NoMad Hotel in Downtown LA. The 241-room hotel features the Italian restaurant Per L'Ora and Mediterranean restaurant Bar Clara among its food and beverage offerings. Built in 1922 and previously serving as the Bank of Italy headquarters, the building also has a rooftop pool deck, while the hotel includes a 
4,000-piece art collection.

CONRAD LOS ANGELES
Hilton’s Conrad luxury brand has made its California debut with the opening of the Conrad Los Angeles. The 305-room hotel is part of The Grand LA mixed use project, which is being designed by architect Frank Gehry and is across the street from Walt Disney Concert Hall. The hotel features a 16,000-square-foot rooftop terrace and pool deck; and 12,000 square feet of meeting space. The Grand LA also includes 176,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, including two food-and-beverage concepts from Chef José Andrés, and 400 private residences.

PIERSIDE HOTEL
The former Holiday Inn Santa Monica beach has been reopened as the Pierside Hotel. Owner Sage Hospitality has updated the hotel’s 132 rooms, and has added a surf-rental shop as well as The Surfing Fox restaurant. The hotel is less than a block from the Santa Monica Pier.

DOWNTOWN L.A. PROPER
Proper Hotels has opened a second Southern California hotel at the downtown Los Angeles site of the former Case Hotel. The 13-story property, which was built in 1924, has 148 rooms as well as a multi-level rooftop pool deck and two restaurants overseen by James Beard Award-winning local chef Suzanne Goin and restaurateur Caroline Styne (Lucques, a.o.c., Tavern).

THE ASTER
The Aster's spacious 95,000 square ft. private members' club is home to 35 residential-style suites. THE SHAY
The Shay, a boutique hotel which is part of the 500,000-square-foot Ivy Station mixed-use project in Culver City, is open. The 148-room hotel, which is operated by Hyatt as part of its Destination Hotels group, features a 5,000-square-foot rooftop space with a pool, restaurant and lounge. The hotel also includes the restaurant etta, helmed by Chicago chef Danny Grant.

HYATT HOUSE LAX CENTURY BLVD/HYATT PLACE LAX CENTURY BLVD

Los Angeles’s first duel-branded Hyatt select-service property opened on Century Boulevard near Los Angeles International Airport. With a combined 401 rooms, the Hyatt House LAX and Hyatt Place LAX feature a mid-century modern design aesthetic inspired by noted architect Welton Becket, who designed the original building in 1967. The hotels represent the only property in the LAX Corridor with a rooftop pool and bar.

THOMPSON HOLLYWOOD

The Thompson Hotels lifestyle brand, which previously operated the Hollywood Roosevelt and is owned by Hyatt, has returned to the area, with a new-build property on Wilcox Avenue between Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards. The 200-room hotel, built by Dream Hollywood developer Relevant Group, features a rooftop deck with a pool.

tommie Hotels, the Hyatt-owned brand specializing in micro-suites, made its worldwide debut near Hollywood’s Cahuenga Corridor in December. The 212-room property was developed by Relevant Group, which recently opened Hyatt’s Thompson Hollywood down the block.

GODFREY HOLLYWOOD HOTEL

The Godfrey Hotel lifestyle chainlet, which has properties in Chicago and Boston, has opened a property on Hollywood’s Cahuenga Corridor near Sunset Boulevard. The hotel features 220 rooms. Off the lobby features a SoCal-centric restaurant and bar, ALK, offering a causal fine dining experience that showcases a substantial showing of plant-based and vegan options, fresh local ingredients and New American cuisine.

FAIRMONT CENTURY PLAZA
AccorHotels’ Fairmont badge has taken over the landmark Century Plaza hotel in Century City after completing its $2.5 billion redevelopment. The Fairmont Century Plaza features 400 rooms and 63 luxury residences. The project will also have 290 luxury residences in the project’s two new 46-story towers. The development includes a 14,000-square-foot spa and 24,000 square feet of private event space, as well as four food and beverage options.

Amsterdam-based hotel specialist CitizenM has made its West Coast debut. The Downtown site, located at Fourth and Spring Street, features 315 rooms. Guests are surrounded by artwork by internationally renowned artists, both in-room and in shared spaces, such as wallpaper by Friedrich Kunath in the living room, and five pieces from the KRC Collection including a video art installation by The One Minutes.

VENICE V HOTEL

Venice Beach’s only beachfront hotel is now open with 30 rooms and six suites. The hotel, redeveloped from a 106-year-old building, includes a rooftop bungalow and is about five blocks from Abbot Kinney Boulevard.

The 48-room Alsace LA Hotel opened in Los Angeles’s Historic West Adams district. The hotel features an a Mediterranean-inspired design aesthetic, a 400-square-foot meeting room and an outdoor heated swimming pool. The hotel also offers guests loaner bikes for the monthly West Adams Bike Tour.

LE MERIDIEN PASADENA ARCADIA

Marriott International’s Le Meridien upper-upscale brand has opened a 234-room hotel across the street from Santa Anita Racetrack. Managed by Pacifica Hotels, the hotel includes more than 14,000 square feet of meeting space and offers poolside food and beverage delivery. The property also includes Asian-fusion restaurant Mélange.

Pendry West Hollywood, which is part of the Montage Hotels & Resorts offshoot brand that debuted in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter in February 2017, has opened at the Sunset Strip site formerly occupied by House of Blues. The Pendry West Hollywood has 149 rooms, while the project also includes 40 luxury condominiums, a live-entertainment venue, a bowling alley and two food and beverage concepts from Chef Wolfgang Puck.

The FOUND Hotel Santa Monica, which offers extended-stay options, opened in West Los Angeles in February.

FOUND HOTEL SANTA MONICA
FOUND Hotels, the new chainlet headed by former Rosewood and Fairmont executive Lew Wolff, has opened the FOUND Hotel Santa Monica in West Los Angeles. The 88-room property includes traditional rooms, shared rooms and extended-stay facilities.

Pacifica Hotels redeveloped the Downtown site that formerly housed the Ritz Milner Hotel as the Wayfarer Downtown LA.

Pacifica Hotels redeveloped the Downtown site that formerly housed the Ritz Milner Hotel as the Wayfarer Downtown LA. The 156-room hotel, which features lobby restaurant Gaslighter Social Club as a rooftop lounge and firepit, has opened on Flower Street.

 

The Glenmark Hotel
The Glenmark Hotel, which is part of Marriott International’s Tribute Portfolio collection, opened on Glendale’s Brand Boulevard in July 2020. 

THE GLENMARK HOTEL
The Glenmark Hotel, which is part of Marriott International’s Tribute Portfolio collection, has opened on Glendale’s Brand Boulevard. The 85-room hotel, which is operated by San Diego-based Azul Hospitality Group, features 7,900 square feet of meeting space as well as coffee from Intelligentsia Coffee Roasters.

HOTELS COMING SOON

REGENT SANTA MONICA (late 2023)
The former Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel just south of Santa Monica Pier will be renovated, updated and reopened under InterContinental Hotels Group’s Regent Hotels & Resorts luxury brand in late 2023. The property’s room count will be reduced to fewer than 200 from 342, while the hotel will also include a spa and a beachfront pool deck.

JORDAN SAN GABRIEL (2024)
The former Hyatt Place property in San Gabriel is being redeveloped and rebranded under Hilton’s Curio Collection as the Jordan San Gabriel. The 212-room hotel, which is located across the street from the San Gabriel Square Mall, is slated to open in October 2023.

NORTH HOLLYWOOD HOTEL (2025)
A 125-room hotel has been approved for a Lankershim Boulevard site about a half-mile south of the North Hollywood Metro Rail station. The seven-story-high project is also slated to include about 9,000 square feet of ground-floor retail.

BULGARI RESORT LOS ANGELES (2026)
The Italian fashion-house’s hospitality division is planning to open a 58-room high-end resort on the 33-acre Benedict Canyon site formerly owned by billionaire Kirk Kerkorian. The property, situated near the Beverly Hills border, will also include a luxury Italian restaurant, an eight-seat sushi bar, a 10,000-square-foot spa and a private cinema.

CHEVAL BLANC BEVERLY HILLS (2026)
A 115-room hotel under the Cheval Blanc luxury-resort brand, which is affiliated with Louis Vuitton, is being proposed for a site near Rodeo Drive and Santa Monica Boulevard. The site is also slated to include restaurants and a private club.

AMAN BEVERLY HILLS (2027)
Swiss hotelier Aman has announced plans for a luxury hotel to be developed near the intersection of Wilshire and Santa Monica Boulevards. The Aman Beverly Hills will have as many as 42 rooms and 37 Aman-branded luxury condominiums. The hotel, to be located on the old Robinsons-May department store site that’s just west of the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills and was previously earmarked for a hotel under China’s Wanda brand, will be part of the 17.5-acre One Beverly Hills project.

VENICE PLACE (2027)
Venice’s Abbot Kinney Boulevard will be the site of a mixed-use project that will include 78 boutique hotel rooms and four furnished long-term-stay units. The Venice Place project, located three blocks from the beach, will include the buildings that currently house Felix Trattoria and ATLA restaurant, and will also feature a rootop pool, retail stores and co-working space.

JW MARRIOTT LOS ANGELES DOWNTOWN EXPANSION (DATE TBD)
An 861-room expansion of the JW Marriott Los Angeles Downtown has been approved for a site adjacent to the current JW Marriott/Ritz Carlton property at LA LIVE. The 37-story tower would include more than 200,000 square feet of meeting space and 10,000 square feet of retail.
