A Note from Ernie - July 2017

President and CEO Ernest Wooden Jr., LATCB

Dear Friends,

Earlier this month, I traveled to Berlin as part of the Los Angeles delegation to celebrate the 50th anniversary of L.A.-Berlin Sister City relationship. Mayor Garcetti led the delegation, organized by the Sister Cities of Los Angeles organization, which included Doane Liu, LACTD; Tom Gilmore, Gilmore Associates; Stephen Cheung, World Trade Center; and Deborah Flint, LAWA; among other governement and civic leaders. Our agenda in Germany focused on strengthening personal, political and business relationships and promoting bilateral cooperation in business, innovation, aviation and tourism. Germany is L.A.’s third largest European tourism market with 236,000 annual visitors.

Summer dineL.A. is back July 14-28 with two weeks of adventuresome dining experiences across Los Angeles. Foodies are invited to take a “Summer Roadtrip” and enjoy a diverse variety of cuisines at 381 participating restaurants – our biggest dineL.A. yet.  As culinary continues to be a defining aspect of choosing a destination among travelers, there’s no better way to showcase L.A.’s incredible wealth of culinary offerings than dineL.A.

I highly encourage you to register for L.A. Tourism’s 5th Market Outlook Forum on Wednesday, August 30. Our annual strategic forecasting conference will help you capitalize on L.A.’s thriving tourism industry and prepare you to welcome future L.A. visitors. You’ll be the first to receive L.A. Tourism’s proprietary 2017 Marketing and Planning Resource, a definitive guidebook filled with up-to-date industry insights. Market Outlook Forum is complimentary and exclusive to our members. But be sure to register soon, space is limited.

These are just a few of the many updates on L.A. Tourism and our industry we have for you this month. As always, we’ll be here, working on behalf of of our members and partners to keep the world coming to Los Angeles.
Best wishes,

Ernest Wooden Jr.
