Next month, National Travel & Tourism Week (May 7 –13) will bring travel and tourism professionals from across the nation together to champion the power of the industry. While we are excited to announce our final visitation and economic impact numbers for 2016, we’re looking to celebrate in an extra special way this year – and we’ll need your support.
To kick off the week, we’ll be celebrating Los Angeles’ diversity and visitors from across the world with a warm message: #everyoneiswelcome. I hope you can join us as we look to create one of the largest human welcome signs in history and welcome all visitors to Los Angeles on Saturday, May 6 at Carl E. Nielsen Park (6000 Will Rogers St.). It’ll be a fun-filled day with food, refreshments, live music, giveaways and free parking, so please grab friends and family and sign up at discoverlosangeles.com/everyoneiswelcome.
I’m pleased to report Transient Occupancy Tax collections for the City’s General Fund totaled $20.5 million for December 2016, bringing our fiscal year-to-date total to more than $133.2 million. This is $17.6 million higher than last year’s to-date total, a year-over-year increase of 15.3%
These are just a few of the many updates on our industry that we’re sharing with you in this month’s newsletter. As always, we will be here, working on behalf of all our members and partners to keep the world coming to Los Angeles.
