LAX Dining & Retail Redesign Earns National Recognition

As its $14-billion capital improvement program continues, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) was recently awarded by Airport Revenue News with Best Concessions Program Design among large airports for the second straight year. The recognition follows Westfield's redesign of dining, retail and amenities at Terminals 1, 2, 3 and 6, as well as at Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT).

Some of the world's premier dining and retail establishments are now available at LAX. The transformation reflects the airport's glittering glass storefronts inspired by the stylish boutiques of Rodeo Drive and Melrose Avenue. Upscale retail outlets like Emporio Armani blend seamlessly with artisanal dining at places like Border Grill, underscoring LAX's commitment to showcase the best in food and fashion. Desayunaron en el hotel y salieron hacia un tour en Malibú Wine Safaris, en donde se pudieron disfrutar de un divertido Tour que incluye un recorrido tipo safari con animales exóticos, los viñedos en Malibú y por supuesto degustaciones de vinos en un ambiente relajado y divertido. The LAX location of Michael Voltaggio’s ink.sack was named in 2013 one of the top-10 airport restaurants in the United States by GQ Magazine. Fans of the Top Chef champion's gourmet sandwich shop, located at Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT), will find their favorite sandwiches, which are both unconventional and accessible, from cold fried chicken to a banh mi to a take on a tortilla española. Named Food & Wine magazine's Best New Chef in 2013, Voltaggio has helmed numerous high-profile kitchens across the country, including Charlie Palmer’s Dry Creek Kitchen in Healdsburg, where he earned a Michelin star, and The Bazaar by Jose Andres at the SLS hotel in Beverly Hills, where he earned a rare 4-star review from the Los Angeles Times.

The sleek BOA Steakhouses in West Hollywood and Santa Monica have been re-imagined at LAX as B Grill by BOA Steakhouse, located across from Duty Free along the concourse between Gate 71B and Gate 73 in Terminal 7. BOA Steakhouse, named one of the top-10 steakhouses in the world by National Geographic, offers a selection of prime Omaha beef, as well as certified organic beef and premium American Wagyu, all served with a choice of rubs and house-made sauces.

Renowned for their modern Euro-Asian concept and influence on the dining scene in California, Chaya Restaurants create inspired menus by infusing exotic ingredients and honored Japanese culinary traditions. All Chaya locations, including Downtown L.A. and Venice, highlight their menus with local and sustainable ingredients that are sourced from the farmer’s market each week, and refresh their menus seasonally based on local availability. At the TBIT location, international travelers can purchase grab-and-go items for their flights, or sit down to enjoy sushi, savory plates, specialty cocktails and Chaya’s signature ambiance.

Ben Ford, a critically acclaimed chef who's also the son of actor Harrison Ford, wows crowds with his handcrafted feasts, featuring everything from mouthwatering Texas-style barbecue to wood-fired paella. Ford’s food reflects his passion for artisanal techniques, innovative flavors and seasonal ingredients. In 2006, he opened his award-winning gastropub Ford’s Filling Station in Culver City. After an eight-year run, Ford closed the restaurant's original location and opened its sequel in the lobby of the JW Marriott at L.A. LIVE in December 2014. Now there's a location at LAX at Gate 55A in Terminal 5, offering pub burgers, flatbreads, salads and bar bites. 

At their popular Border Grill urban cantinas in Downtown L.A. and Santa Monica, celebrity chefs Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger feature modern Mexican cuisine in a lively and colorful setting. The LAX locations, at both TBIT and Terminal 4, offer Milliken and Feniger's signature gourmet Mexican inspired dishes, as well as travel-friendly wraps and sandwiches to go.

Fred Segal, an iconic Los Angeles brand with its flagship location on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood, has opened its first airport location at TBIT. What started more than five decades ago as the world's first jeans-only store has become a famed retailer garnering acclaim from fans around the world for its collection of stylish designer clothing, footwear and accessories.

Michael Kors is now open in the Great Hall of TBIT. It’s the first Michael Kors location in any airport. Based in New York, Michael Kors is a world-renowned designer of luxury accessories and ready-to-wear collections. Emporio Armani, part of a prestigious Italian international fashion house founded by Giorgio Armani in Milan, is now open in TBIT, offering elegant and stylish items for men and women. Emporio Armani focuses on cutting-edge trends and modern style, featuring ready-to-wear and runway collections.

Bvlgari is a high-end luxury brand with locations all over the world, specializing in fine jewelry, watches, accessories, fragrances and skincare. Bvlgari (aka Bulgari) is originally from Rome and a name that's emblematic of Italian excellence. Located at TBIT, Bulgari honors its rich past with modern designs, incorporating artisanal craftsmanship, avant-garde materials and unrivalled design. Coach became the first retailer to open in the “Luxury Island” of the Great Hall at TBIT. Coach is a leading New York design house of modern luxury accessories and lifestyle collections for women and men. Started in 1941 as a family-run workshop in New York City, Coach was a pioneer in the leather goods and accessories space, establishing itself as the original American house of leather during the second half of the 20th century.
