Astrological LA: A Destination for Every Star Sign
Every Sign - Philosophical Research Society
Founded in 1934 by Manly P. Hall, author of The Secret Teachings of All Ages, and other books on philosophical and spiritual subjects, Philosophical Research Society is home to a voluminous library and bookstore, an art gallery and an auditorium that regularly hosts film screenings. PRS also has a calendar packed with classes and gatherings on a variety of subjects, including astrology. The monthly Astro Salon is open to all, from astrologists to those with a newfound interest in the stars. PRS is also home to an Astro Study Club that meets on the second Wednesday of the month.
Aries (March 21 - April 19) - Universal Studios Hollywood
At Universal Studios Hollywood, Revenge of the Mummy and Transformers: The Ride will appeal to thrill-seeking Aires. (Just wait until Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift opens in summer of 2026.) But, with your love of games and competition, you might want to spend a good chunk of time in Super Nintendo World. Fortunately, you have enough energy to wander through the theme park from open to close.
Taurus (April 20 - May 20) - Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden
A particularly grounded earth sign, Taurus travelers will fall in love with Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden. From aquatic gardens to the climate-appropriate Crescent Farm to historic structures like the Queen Anne Cottage, there is plenty to explore. Check the Bloom Calendar before you go to see what’s growing at the Arboretum and, if time permits, check out one of the regular events, which range from forest bathing to art workshops.
Gemini (May 21 - June 21) - Autry Museum of the American West
Your curiosity is insatiable, Gemini, but a trip to the Autry Museum of the West will draw you deeper into local history and pop culture with its mix of ongoing and special exhibitions. Learn about native plants in the Ethnobotanical Garden, explore pop culture portrayals of the region in Imagined Wests. Check the calendar for special events like film screenings and Autry After Hours performances, plus annual happenings like the American Indian Arts Marketplace and National Day of the Cowboy and Cowgirl.
Cancer (June 22 - July 22) - Getty Villa
A trip to the Getty Villa is an ideal museum excursion for Cancers. A recreation of a Roman country house, the serene sister of the always-bustling Getty Center holds 4000 years of ancient art, with both permanent and temporary exhibitions on view. You can relax in the garden by the reflecting pool and enjoy the breeze from the neighboring Pacific Ocean. If you visit on a Thursday or Saturday, make a reservation for afternoon tea. Or, you can bring your own picnic. If time permits, head to Will Rogers State Beach, across PCH from Getty Villa, for a walk along the sand.
Leo (July 23 - August 22) - The Music Center
For theater-loving Leos, a trip to The Music Center is a must. The third-largest performing arts center in the United States, this 22-acre downtown Los Angeles campus is home to Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Ahmanson Theatre, Mark Taper Forum and Walt Disney Concert Hall. In between and surrounding the theaters, you’ll find the picturesque Jerry Moss Plaza, the Blue Ribbon Garden and Gloria Molina Grand Park. Check the calendar for upcoming plays, opera, dance and music events before you go and make plans to tour the campus beforehand. For added Leo luxury, consider on site dining options like Abernethy’s or Kendall’s Brasserie.
Virgo (August 23 - September 22) - Los Angeles Conservancy Walking Tours
With a keen eye for detail, Virgos will enjoy exploring Los Angeles’ architecture and LA Conservancy has guided tours that cater to specific aesthetics. Weekly Saturday morning tours include Historic Downtown, Broadway Historic Theatre and Commercial District, Art Deco and Union Station. Monthly tours are available for Angelino Heights, Modern Skyline and Biltmore Hotel. If you’re traveling with a group, you can also arrange for private tours.
Libra (September 23 - October 23)
For a social butterfly like a Libra, few movie experiences can compare to the Cinespia screenings at Hollywood Forever. The outdoor, cemetery screenings of classic and cult favorite films are an event, complete with DJs and photobooths. The picnic atmosphere allows you to catch up with your friends and, maybe, make some new ones too. Cinespia season at Hollywood Forever is between May and September. If you’re in town outside of the summer mothers, look out for other social happenings at the famed cemetery, like concerts inside the Masonic Hall or the annual Dia de los Muertos celebration.
Scorpio (October 24 - November 21)
A water sign with a love of independence and an interest in meditation, Scorpios will enjoy a solo afternoon outing to the Self-Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine in Pacific Palisades. Dedicated in 1950, it’s home to a peaceful Meditation Garden, where you can walk along the lake, practice yoga or sit and watch the world that surrounds you. Reservations are necessary to visit and can be made through the Lake Shrine’s website.
Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21) - Union Station
Sagittarius doesn’t need an itinerary, and probably would prefer not to have one. Since you’re a spontaneous traveler, start your LA adventure at Union Station. The 90+ year old institution, known as “the last of the great train stations,” is home to both stunning, historic architecture and contemporary art. You can tour the station on your own or with a group. But, your adventure doesn’t begin and end here. Since Metro’s A, B and D lines all have Union Station stops, you can take any of these to continue your tour of the art and architectural treasures that are part of the city’s public transit system. Make your own tour of permanent public art installations and temporary exhibitions using Metro Art’s website.
Capricorn (December 22 - January 19) - Mount Wilson Observatory
Always up for a challenge, the disciplined and ambitious Capricorn would certainly be up for a trek to Mount Wilson Observatory. Located in the San Gabriel Mountains near Pasadena, the observatory sits on a peak 5710 feet high. The drive and light hiking offer rewards, though, when you explore this early 20th century testament to scientific discovery. Check Mount Wilson Observatory’s calendar for events like concerts, film screenings and star-gazing parties. When visiting, it’s always best to follow the map and directions on the Observatory’s website, as GPS can steer you wrong in the hills.
Aquarius (January 20 - February 18) - El Pueblo de Los Angeles
Known as analytical thinkers with an independent streak and a keen interest in humanitarianism, Aquarians will enjoy a day at El Pueblo de Los Angeles. Known as the birthplace of Los Angeles, the city’s first urban core is home to Olvera Street and multiple museums. You’ll learn about LA’s diverse communities at the Chinese American Museum, Italian American Museum and La Plaza de Cultura y Artes and you won’t want to miss the Museum of Social Justice, which is in the basement of La Plaza United Methodist Church, located on the edge of Olvera Street right next to the plaza.
Pisces (February 19 - March 20) - Egyptian Theatre
A creative spirit with a penchant for romance, Pisces will feel at home inside the Egyptian Theatre. The movie palace, which first opened in 1922, is where red carpet premieres originated and it still retains its Golden Age Hollywood glamour. Plan to check out screenings in the American Cinematheque series, which range from black-and-white classics to modern fare, with a good dose of foreign and independent films in the mix. Keep the old Hollywood vibe going after the film ends and head to Musso & Frank for dinner and/or drinks
