Part of the airport's multi-billion dollar modernization program, the MSC will be constructed west of TBIT and will be accessed either by bus or by a 1,000-foot pedestrian tunnel from TBIT. The tunnel will originate at a new gateway facility connected to TBIT near Gate 148, and will have moving walkways to move passengers through the tunnel.

The Los Angeles region has been selected by the College Football Playoff (CFP) to host the 2023 College Football Playoff National Championship. The nation’s biggest college football event will be played at the new NFL stadium in the City of Inglewood, set to open in 2020. The selection of Los Angeles follows a highly competitive bid process led by the Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission (LASEC) and Los Angeles Stadium & Entertainment District at Hollywood Park with support from Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board. This successful bid focused on utilizing our City’s tremendous venues and assets – diversity, creativity, entertainment – as well as our storied history of hosting the world’s biggest sporting events including the Olympics, World Cup, and All-Star Weekends. While the game will be held in Inglewood, other official events and celebrations will be hosted throughout the region.
