A Note From Adam - September 2022

Adam Burke Headshot

Dear Valued Tourism Partners,

After three years apart, I’m thrilled to see you in-person next week for our 2022 Market Outlook Forum. If you haven’t registered yet, it’s not too late! Follow this link to join us on September 13th at the iconic Shine Auditorium.

Given how much our industry has changed since 2019, we began this year’s planning process by asking you what content would be most valuable, and this year’s Outlook Forum has been developed around your invaluable feedback. Recognizing that our hotel Members have an interest in more detailed lodging and forecast data, we’ve organized a pre-event breakout session featuring experts from Arrivalist, Cvent, Expedia Group, and Tourism Economics.

To kick off our general session, Don Skeoch (Chief Marketing Officer), Darren Green (Chief Sales Officer), and I will provide updates on our industry’s ongoing recovery, key data insights and forecasting, and an overview of our 2023 strategies.

Sustainability will also be a focus throughout the day, and to provide a better understanding of what a sustainable future can look like in our City of Angels, we have an incredible panel moderated by Atlas Obscura featuring speakers from Destination Crenshaw, Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, Los Angeles World Airports and RE:Her.

We’re also excited to welcome LA’s newest professional sports team, Angel City Football Club, for a can’t-miss panel discussion highlighting their successful community-based business model. Moderated by Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission CEO Kathy Schloessman, our guest speakers will include ACFC Co-Founder & President Julie Uhrman and ACFC Forward and Olympic Gold Medalist Sydney Leroux.

To top it all off, we’ll also enjoy special performances from the Inner-City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles and the Official Drumline of the Los Angeles Chargers, with a Member Mixer immediately following the day’s program.

I also want to take a moment to express my gratitude to all Members who have already purchased tickets to this year’s Outlook Forum. As a non-profit organization, we always strive to deliver the greatest value to our Members at the lowest possible cost, which included waiving Membership dues entirely during the first two years of the pandemic. In addition – like all of you – we are also contending with higher event-related expenses and, as a result, had to introduce a nominal registration fee for this year’s Forum. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and ongoing support.

We can’t wait to see you!

All my best,

Adam Burke
