The Museum of Contemporary Art presents Magdalena Fernandez, the first comprehensive mid-career exhibition of Magdalena Fernandez's (b. 1964, Caracas, Venezuela) work. Spanning from 1993 to 2014, the core of this mid-career survey will consist of a number of installations that exemplify the creative approach on which the artist has built a contemporary dialogue with the work of European and Latin American masters of geometric abstraction and will also include sculpture, video photography, drawing, and prints. Her work delves within the language of geometric abstraction, playing with ideas of light, movement, and sound, in context with established abstract and kinetic traditions. Trained in mathematics, physics, and graphic design, Fernandez has also been deeply influenced by the thinking of Italian designer and architect, A.G. Fronzoni, with whom she worked from 1990 until 1993.
