Lady Bug Wine Tour

Coquelicot Estate Vineyard will be hosting a “Ladybug Release Party” on May 19th, 2013. The event will be comprised of thousands of ladybugs released into the vineyard to reflect the estate's deep commitment to organic agriculture.
“Instead of pesticides, we use ladybugs to keep our crops happy and healthy,” says Coquelicot winemaker and viticultralist, Michael Larner.

The fun-filled family event will include a tour of the vineyard, lots of wine, delicious multi-course BBQ catered by "The Sky Room" in Long Beach, wine lectures, and of course, the much anticipated release. A charter bus will be taking a group from The Sky Room in Long Beach to the Coquelicot Vineyard and back. The event is sure to be an exciting and unique experience. “In our 10 years of harvest, we've never done anything like it,” said Bernard Rosenson, Coquelicot Estate's vintner.

Car Free LA Tour: The Music

We're showcasing one of our new self-guided "car free" vacation itineraries that offer a new way to experience the hidden gems of LA’s diverse neighborhoods via foot, bike and Metro. The "LA Music" itinerary will take us from Hollywood to venues along the Sunset Strip and end at Amoeba Music.

WHEN: Sunday, May 19 at 9:30 a.m. till 2 p.m. (or whenever you get tired)

WHERE: Michael Jackson’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (in front of the Chinese Theatre). Conveniently located next to the Hollywood/Highland Metro Station (Red Line). There is paid parking available at Hollywood & Highland or simply take Metro.

HOW: We’ll be walking and using Metro to get up and down the Sunset Strip before ending at Amoeba Music. Bring comfortable walking shoes, a Metro Day Pass, sunscreen and your phone for Instagramming #CarFreeLA photos all day!

The First Annual Taste of Hawthorne is a Free Fun Food Festival celebrating the people and businesses of the South Bay area. Entertainment will include cooking demonstrations from Food Network and the Travel Channel personalities in addition to live music all day long. People will be walking running, biking, riding the Metro, driving or flying into the TASTE of Hawthorne Food & Music Festival on May 19th at the Hawthorne Municipal Airport, 12101 S. Crenshaw Blvd, from 10M -6PM.

On May 19th Local restaurants, eateries and foodies will set up booths with tastings of their specialties. This event will bring the South Bay an annual culinary festival that’s designed to celebrate the southland’s fabulously diverse range of food, from nutritional and healthy to the indulgent naughty but oh so nice!. This event promises to be “The Family Fun Event of the Year” offering a family-friendly atmosphere with something for everyone.

This TASTE of Hawthorne & Music Festival will be served into mouth-watering portions. Food Tastings, Wine & Beer Tasting, Kitchen Kid Korner hands on cooking demo, Trackless Train, The Soozi Show, community talent show, face painting, Balloon artists, Car Show from vintage cars from the El Segundo Driving Museum, to TESLA and the #1 Selling FORD cars on display, LA Galaxy street team, Food Trucks & the famous Yarn Truck and Artisans. Food Network star Chris Cognac the Food Detective & Travel Chanel personalities Al Mancini & John Curtis from the show “All Forked Up” will be hosting the Music Feeds Main Stage. Award Winning musicians will be playing throughout the day featuring the GRAMMY AWARD Winning band OZOMATLI!

This most delicious day won’t stop there. Locals will be able to taste the many gastronomic delights cooked and supplied by local restaurateurs and chefs and presented as street food. You’ll be able to munch your way around the southland's world of flavors.

The TASTE of Hawthorne’s global route will take you from Indian curries, to Italian pizza and pasta, Mediterranean kebabs, Barbeque, Spanish paella, Thai, Japanese sushi; African, and Mexican flavorful cuisines, and that’s just for starters.

Don’t miss out on the Second Stage where the Festival will host an open air culinary workshops and cookery demonstrations lead by familiar faces and the new kids on the gastronomic block.

At the recent volunteer training councilperson Olivia Valentine said “The TASTE of Hawthorne is a fun food festival that will nourish the spirit and the economy of Hawthorne.”
