"As You Like It" by William Shakespeare

Ruth B. Shannon Center for the Performing Arts

6760 Painter Ave, Whittier, CA 90601

Adapted and directed by Gil Gonzalez, Associate Professor of Theatre & Communication Arts Shakespeare’s pastoral comedy is believed to have been written in 1599 or early 1600 and first published in the First Folio, 1623. Unable to act on their feelings and forced into exile in the Forest of Arden, lovers Rosalind and Orlando become entangled in a beguiling game of love, lust and mistaken identity. As You Like It subverts the traditional rules of romance. Gender roles, nature and politics are confused in a play that reflects on how bewildering yet utterly pleasurable life can be. (Royal Shakespeare Company).
