Chamber Music: All-Mozart
111 South Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90012
8:00pm
The E-flat Quintet is a unique marvel. “I myself consider it to be the best work I have ever composed,” Mozart told his father after its well-received premiere in 1784. The unusual instrumentation gives the piece a kaleidoscopic, constantly shifting aural surface, as Mozart worked hard to keep the four winds balanced in sound and presence, with the piano as a common background.
Come for:
In keeping with the spirit of The Marriage of Figaro and the Mozart/Da Ponte Trilogy, the final chamber music program features nothing but music by Salzburg’s favorite son.
