Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)

5905 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 92656

Conductor Maxim Eshkenazy, who the Los Angeles Times has hailed as "charismatic and exciting," leads the 70-member Colburn Youth Orchestra. Comprised of students age 13 and above, the orchestra performs classic symphonic literature as well as newly commissioned works. Eshkenazy was recently promoted to associate conductor of the Pacific Symphony, and is also music director of the Bakersfield Youth Orchestra. He regularly guest conducts Bulgaria’s major orchestras, including the Sofia Philharmonic. Committed to the promotion of new music, Eshkenazy frequently programs and performs the music of contemporary composers. For Sundays Live, Eshkenazy leads the Colburn Youth Orchestra in performances of Copland’s An Outdoor Symphony, Ravel’s Pavane pour une infante défunte, and Bizet’s Carmen Suites Nos. 1 and 2.
