Cambodian Music Festival

Ford Amphitheater

2580 Cahuenga Blvd. East Hollywood, CA 90068, Los Angeles, 90068

Headlined by Los Angeles rock band Dengue Fever, the Cambodian Music Festival is more than just a fun day of being captivated by the original music of inspired artists. It is about supporting and participating in a larger movement. We answer a louder call to rebuild and restore an artistic legacy that was nearly destroyed by the brutal Khmer Rouge regime. The driving force of this renaissance is the refusal to be defined by this tragic past. Transcendence lies within the creation of these new works, which humbly strive to replace what was nearly lost. Dance to the rhythms as the stories unfold of what we survived and why we survived.

The Viper Room 21st Anniversary Week: SOUL LEGEND - BETTYE LAVETTE

Viper Room

West Hollywood, CA 90069

Please join us in opening our 21st Anniversary Week Celebrations with Grammy Nominated and Soul Legend, Ms. Bettye LaVette.  The theme of the evening will be fancy 1960s attire. Think Mad Men with a whole lot of soul.

Two time Grammy nominee Bettye LaVette is no mere singer. Bettye is an interpreter of the highest order. Whether the song originated as country, rock, pop, or blues, when she gets through with it, it is pure R&B. She gets inside a song and shapes and twists it to convey all of the emotion that can be wrought from the lyric. She was born Betty Jo Haskin on January 29,1946, in Muskegon, Michigan. Unlike many of her contemporaries, Bettye did not get her start in the church, but was weaned on the C&W and R&B records of the time that were playing on the juke box in her parent's living room.
