On Sunday, May 15th at 12:30 PM, the Friends of Greystone is delighted to present Bret Parsons and the book, “Gordon B. Kaufmann, Master Architects of Southern California 1918 – 1941.” Join Bret Parsons, a realtor and architectural director of Coldwell Banker Southern California, for a presentation about the man who made an indelible impression on the Southern California Landscape. Born in England, Gordon B. Kaufmann arrived in the United States practically penniless. Within a few short years, he would rise to prominence as one of the finest architects on the West Coast, with commissions ranging from Greystone Mansion, to the Los Angeles Times Building, to Hoover Dam. Before Bret’s presentation in the Mansion’s Living Room, a light buffet lunch will be served. Parking is complimentary and guests are welcome to tour the first floor of the Mansion.
Along with architect Marc Appleton and architectural historian Steve Vaught, Bret co-authored “Gordon B. Kaufmann, Master Architects of Southern California 1918 – 1941,” the first in a series of twelve volumes about Southern California’s remarkable residential architects. Bret has captivated audiences since 1988 speaking about architectural subjects. He wrote the monograph on architect Gerard Colcord, and currently writes the Architecture & Design page in “View” magazine read by one million readers per week.
