The commission for Stravinskys ballet Apollo came from the Library of Congress for a contemporary music festival in 1928. Adolph Bolm choreographed that world premiere, but Stravinsky had reserved the European rights for Serge Diaghilev and his Ballets Russes, whose version opened in Paris six weeks later. George Balanchine staged that performance, and his choreography quickly became a classic, though he made significant changes in it during more than 50 years of productions. (It was Balanchine who shortened the original title, Apollo musagte, in the 1950s.) Come for: In a co-production with American Ballet Theatre (celebrating its 75th anniversary), ABT Principal Dancer and international star Roberto Bolle joins Dudamel and the Phil to dance to Stravinskys exquisite score, based on the grand tradition of French 17th- and 18th-century music. And more: The inexorable drive of Shostakovichs Fifth brings the program to a delirious climax.

Cultural curator and urban anthropologist Roger Gastman is co-curating Work In Progress, an ambitious interactive installation-pop-up-art-marketplace with Clive Davis' son Doug Davis. The new art marketplace seeks to disrupt the traditional gallery paradigm by making desirable contemporary art immediately available in real time.
W.I.P. will transform a prominent but now defunct karaoke club in Downtown Los Angeles into a warren of pop-up galleries with individual rooms each devoted to specific artists. New works will be added constantly, making the experience an interactive and ever-changing “work in progress.”
Access to an array of works by artists including POSE, REVOK, Richard Colman, Shawn Kolodny, Adam Wallacavage, Cleon Petersen, Tasya Van Ree and Sage Vaughn will be available, as well as select prints by Ed Ruscha and John Baldessari.
Work in Progress will open exclusively in downtown LA on Black Friday, November 27, 2015 until the 27th of December.
