This far-reaching concert begins with the stirring, knife-edge fanfares of Janáček’s Sinfonietta, turns toward the future with Saariaho while celebrating the organ’s past, then plunges into the cool, Finnish mythic soundscapes of Sibelius.
Come for: A characteristically dramatic program from our beloved Conductor Laureate, Esa-Pekka Salonen.
And more: An awesome 10th birthday present for the Walt Disney Concert Hall organ with world-renown French organist Olivier Latry.
