WHITTIER, CA - The Whittier Cultural Arts Foundation, in partnership with King Richard's Antique Center, will host the 2nd Annual (revived) Whittier Walnut Tree Festival on Saturday, October 04, 2014 from 9:00am - 4:00pm at Roadside Rest Park (San Gabriel Valley) on the 12000 block of Whittier Blvd. Admission is free.
The Walnut Tree Festival is the place where art and antiques merge under Whittier’s most historic tree. The tree was planted in 1907; the tree is now about 14 feet in circumference and has a spread of 100 feet. It is a living reminder of the once flourishing walnut industry in this part of Southern California. The Tree, a National Landmark, and designated in 1959 as State Historical Landmark 681, is on the Local Official Register of Historic Resources.
The event will feature the 2nd annual walnut cookie-baking contest along with entertainment; an array of gourmet food trucks, and vintage fashion trucks will also be present. Various local non-profit and special organizations will be present such as the College For Appraisers (appraisal clinic).
It will be a day to enjoy, appreciate and purchase art and antiques all in one place.
Art, antique, and vintage vendors are welcome to participate. Space fees are tax deductible and limited so act now. Please visit http://whittiercaf.org/walnuttreefestival for more details and applications.
