Student Altars: 11th Annual Dia de los Muertos at East Los Angeles College

Students in Chicano Studies 7 will be exhibiting their artworks for the 11th annual student altar exhibition at East Los Angeles College. The altars or “ofrendas” will commemorate various aspects of religion in ancient Mexico, including the Mesoamerican culture, Mexican Revolution and Soldaderas, immigration, historical women, GuadalupeTonantzin, and traditional family cultures.

Join the library in celebration of Latino Heritage month with a musical performance by the Delirians, the young lions of a resurgent Southern California reggae and ska scene. Their untamed East LA sound hypnotically transports audiences from Kingston, Jamaica to the southland’s barrios and ghettos. The Delirians are raw energy, joy, and exuberance.
