More: “Betty” is the third album by legendary alternative metal band Helmet. Released in 1994, it peaked at number 45 on the Billboard 200 album chart, making it Helmet’s highest ranking album so far. Regarded as experimental and considered by fans one of the band’s best albums, “Betty” has provided a strong influence on the post-metal genre. Helmet formed in New York City in 1989 and released its first full-length album, “Strap It On,” in 1991. A year later, they signed to Interscope Records and found mainstream success. The New York Times praised Helmet for being “a band that made important connections between indie-rock and metal.” The legendary group has inspired several alternative metal and nu metal groups, including Tool, System of A Down, Nine Inch Nails and Korn.
