Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra: Mozart & Prokofiev

Royce Hall

240 Charles E. Young Dr, CA 90024, CA 0

7:00pm

It’s human nature to cling to the familiar, but change is inevitable, and artists often point the way forward. Long before Bob Dylan gave voice to the Sixties, Haydn, who continually reinvented himself, named his 64th Symphony “Times Change.”

Mozart poured grief over his mother’s death into the beautifully crafted Flute Concerto, while Prokofiev drew inspiration for the athletic Violin Concerto from his gradual repatriation back to Moscow. Principal flute David Shostac celebrates 40 seasons at LACO performing Mozart and Joseph Swensen returns to solo in Prokofiev.

LACO composer-in-residence Andrew Norman describes Gran Turismo as “a creative joyride.” Hop aboard and embrace change –who knows where tonight’s musical journey may take you!
