Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve
Located in Van Nuys, the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve debunks the myth that LA is a concrete jungle. In the reserve, it’s difficult to tell that you’re in the city at all. Groves of trees fill out the landscape, while a variety of wildlife — waterfowl, ducks, herons and more — go about their day. CLICK HERE for 99 other FREE things to do in Los Angeles.

F-1 rocket engine on display in front of Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne (Canoga Park). The same kind of rocket engine that was used in the Saturn V rocket that carried Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to the moon.
Photographer's Note: "The idea of the shot came to me one day as I drove by the buildings there in Canoga Park. I waited for over 6 months for the right sky and full moon to take this shot. It was taken during a storm break and I was on my belly so the angle could be perfect. The shot indicates that even though there were clouds of doubt around our mission to get to the moon. A great President, and a group of scientist from NASA / Rocketdyne and the American people (shown by the us flag) still made it to the moon! When I presented the original to one of the scientist I have known for over 30 years he sat there with a tear in his eye and said, 'I do not deserve this, it was the greatness of our nation and the whole team that made it possible!'" - Robert T Kesser, Flickr

25 Degrees in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel (editor's note: add the fried egg)
Photographer's Note: "Dear Friends, by now I am sure you are all aware of my love and fondness for Burgers. Over the years it has been my pleasure to kindly nurture this curiosity into a kind of obsessive quest for the best burger in the greater Los Angeles area. Well, today marks a milestone in this journey and perhaps my life. This is a 25 degrees burger, and I can confidently say that this was the best Burger I ever had." - hophex, Flickr
