Los Angeles Welcomes the World During Awards Season

During awards season, Los Angeles rolls out the red carpet for the movie and music industry, media and fans from around the world. Throughout the city, special events and cultural attractions celebrate the highest achievements in movies, television and music.

To celebrate the 2012 Hollywood Award Season, And The Winner Is… opened on February 16th at The Hollywood Museum, located in the historic Max Factor Building. This exhibit showcases the largest selection of costumes and props from over twenty films and television shows nominated for awards. And The Winner Is… features selected items from 2012 Academy Award nominees such as Hugo, The Artist, The Help, Midnight in Paris, The Descendants, Harry Potter, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Iron Lady, My Week with Marilyn, and Ides of March. In addition to the current nominees, the exhibit also features costumes and props from numerous award-winning films from years past.

Speaking of awards, And The Winner Is… has statuettes from the Oscars®, Golden Globes®, Emmys®, Screen Actor Guild Awards®, Art Director’s Guild and People’s Choice Awards on display, as well as a model of one of the original Academy Awards® stage sets.

Television shows are also on display in the exhibit, including costumes and props from The Good Wife, The Walking Dead, Justified, Spartacus, Modern Family, Glee, American Horror Story, Boss, Sons of Anarchy, Breaking Bad, Camelot, and more.

To make sure that style setters look their best, the Mondrian Los Angeles is partnering with stylehaüs, the first member's only clothing boutique and styling service, to open the Red Carpet Room, a pop-up boutique that will be furnished with exclusive, high-end merchandise. While celebrity stylists and talent may be swooping in and out for Lanvin gowns and Philip Press diamond jewelry, hotel guests are given VIP access and complimentary half hour styling consultations. The Red Carpet Room by stylehaüs at Mondrian will be open seven days a week from February 1st through February 26th, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. (or by special appointment).

Each January, the entertainment community and film fans around the world turn their attention to the Academy Awards. Interest and anticipation builds to a pitch leading up to the Oscar telecast in February, when a global audience of hundreds of millions of movie lovers tune in to watch the ceremony and learn who will receive the highest honors in cinema. This year’s Academy Awards presentation is taking place on Sunday, February 24th. The Kodak Theatre in Hollywood has been the permanent home of the ceremonies since 2002.

From February 14 to April 28, 2012, the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) Museum presents the 20th Annual Art of Motion Picture Costume Design exhibition. Celebrating the art and industry of costume designers, this exhibition presents more than 100 costumes from twenty films released in 2011, including all five Academy Award nominees for Best Costume. Selected costumes from Anonymous, The Artist, Hugo, Jane Eyre, W.E., Immortals, Super 8, Warhorse and other films provide an up-close view of the costumer's art. The exhibition will also showcase classic film costumes worn by Fred Astaire, Ingrid Bergman, Jean Harlow, Marlene Dietrich and other Hollywood legends.

The 54th Annual GRAMMY Awards are taking place on Sunday, Feb. 12th at STAPLES Center at L.A. LIVE. The recording industry's most prestigious award, the GRAMMY, is presented annually by The Recording Academy. A GRAMMY is awarded by The Recording Academy's voting membership to honor excellence in the recording arts and sciences. Hilton is celebrating the twenty-fourth year of its partnership with the The Recording Academy as the Official Hotel for the GRAMMYs.

The GRAMMY Museum®’s imaginative mix of memorabilia and high-tech exhibits is a guitar-smashing success, and with the Discover the Arts discount, you can afford to bring the whole band along on this fascinating journey into the history of music. Artifacts include a collection of Michael Jackson’s famous beaded jackets and Stevie Ray Vaughan's prized guitar "Jimbo," while interactive exhibits help you map the developments of dozens of music genres through the decades. The 69th Annual Golden Globes took place on January 15th, bestowed by the 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) and recognizing excellence in film and television, both domestic and foreign. Since 1961, the Golden Globe Awards have been presented at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.

From March 2 to 14, 2012, the Paley Center presents the 29th Annual William S. Paley Television Festival. Paley Fest is a celebration of some of the best series on TV and gives fans a chance to meet the stars and creative minds behind shows such as Mad Men, The Office and Sons of Anarchy. Paley Fest 2012 is taking place at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills.
