Role Summary:  

The position is responsible for obtaining, analyzing and communicating quantitative and qualitative tourism data (visitor, airline industry and lodging).Specific responsibilities include data entry; generating and updating Excel graphs, Word reports and PowerPoint presentations; summarizing tourism industry reports and directly supporting the Vice President and Senior Manager of Tourism Insights.

Position requires ability to work both collaboratively and independently, balance a wide variety of assignments, and work in a fast paced environment requiring time management skills and flexibility.

Key Performance Measures and Accountabilities:

1. Data Collection and Compilation

a. Collect lodging metrics, LAX international passenger arrival figures, LA County airport passenger traffic, and other tourism industry data for scheduled weekly and monthly distribution
b. Update monthly/quarterly lodging and LAX arrivals (port of entry) graphs/tables and annual visitation graphs/tables
c. Prepare monthly tourism reports (lodging, air arrivals, travel industry indicators)
d. Assist in assembling and calculating domestic and international visitation, spend and profile data with year over year    change and tourism forecasts.
e. Update lodging inventory with existing supply, hotels under construction and in planning.
f. Maintain historical Los Angeles tourism data and geographic (submarket/consumer regions), demographic        (population/crime rates), employment and economic statistics.
g. Review daily, weekly and periodical on-line bulletins for relevant lodging, airline and tourism industry news. Report    information to Tourism Insights department and LA Tourism staff.

2.Prepare and Maintain Presentations and Decks

a. Update and maintain Master Deck presentation containing graphs and tables as new data are available.
b. Summarize tourism industry reports, white papers and webinar proceedings.
c. Create annual summary of travel profile and trends.
d. Update international visitor profiles using combination of vendor data and internet research.
e. Assist in the update of the annual Tourism Insights publications (End of the Year Tourism Review, Marketing Planning    Resource, International Visitor Insights Guide, and Domestic Visitor Insights Guide).
f. Assist in preparation of tourism research reports and presentations
g. Create, execute and edit PowerPoint presentations as needed.

3. Support and respond to requests made by members, stakeholders and internal staff for data and presentations

a. Provide pertinent data to members, stakeholders and internal staff and address tourism related inquiries from outside firms    and individuals.

Key Skills and Knowledge:   
Education/Training/Licenses
•Education or training equivalent to bachelors degree
•Experience in working with research and research systems, data analysis and reporting
•Experience in the Tourism or Lodging industry preferred
