Words from Wooden - June 2015

President and CEO Ernest Wooden Jr., LATCB

At the end of May, I traveled to Orlando, Florida with a number of LATCB representatives to participate in IPW, the travel industry’s premier international marketplace and largest generator of inbound travel. Our partner Universal Studios Hollywood asked us to join them in a press conference where we shared several important destination updates and details on upcoming developments to hundreds of international media members, resulting in scores of coverage.

During the tradeshow, the international tourism team met with the most influential international buyers to increase visitation to L.A., helping us achieve our goal of 50 million visitors by 2020.

While at IPW, two significant announcements were made. Brand USA revealed that Los Angeles is the host city for the upcoming China Leadership Summit for the first time Sept. 8-11, 2015. Approximately 250 industry leaders will gather to discuss marketing strategies and highlight a new era of U.S.-Chinese tourism. Additionally, U.S. Travel announced that our city has been designated the host city for IPW 2024. We are thrilled to welcome back this important industry event to our destination, which we last hosted in 2012.

The 3rd annual LATCB Market Outlook Forum is soon approaching (August 20) and I encourage you to register now. It is the strategic forecasting conference for any business interested in capitalizing on L.A.’s record tourism growth.

At the event, you will get the scoop on the latest tourism trends from industry experts, hear the latest L.A. visitation forecasts, preview LATCB’s sales and marketing plans for the year ahead and learn how to participate in LATCB activities to maximize the value of your membership.

In addition, this is the only way to receive LATCB’s proprietary Marketing and Planning Resource Book, which is filled with exclusive L.A. market analysis, visitor profiles, spending habits and other market information that will help you make strategic business decisions. This year’s event is complimentary to all members, but space is limited. Read more about the Market Outlook Forum in the What’s Coming section.

These are just a few of the many updates on L.A. Tourism and our industry that we’re sharing with you in this month’s newsletter. As always, LATCB will be here, working on behalf of all of our members and partners to keep the world coming to Los Angeles.

Best wishes,
