In light of the holidays our monthly Member Mixers are on hiatus for December. On behalf of LATCB, we thank all of our members who actively participated in and supported our events throughout 2013. We look forward to bringing you a year of valuable, fun networking events in 2014. Please watch for our invitations and join us for our Member Mixers. We are currently scheduling the mixer calendar for 2014. If you are interested in hosting a mixer, please contact Lorraine Chapman at [email protected].
LATCB members can benefit from an exclusive offer to participate in our 2014 Endless Entertainment promotion campaign. Starting in Jan. 2014, the LATCB Marketing Team will once again kick off the new year with the Endless Entertainment promotion, offering special incentives to encourage travelers to book a trip to Los Angeles. The promotion will be supported with digital advertising through a variety of online travel agent websites where consumers will receive incentives on attractions, dining, shopping, cultural offers and more, if they book a multi-night stay in Los Angeles. Participating members will benefit from potential direct bookings as well as increased marketing visibility. If you are interested in participating or would like more information about the promotion, please contact Monica Nishimoto, LATCB Marketing Manager, at [email protected].
The Special Olympics World Games will be held in Los Angeles, July 25 – Aug. 2, 2015, and will be the largest sports-and-humanitarian event in the world that year. This international sporting competition for athletes with intellectual disabilities is organized by Special Olympics to showcase the skills and accomplishments of people with intellectual disabilities on a global stage. The 2015 Special Olympics World Games has launched two programs to encourage support of and participation in the Games. Online registration is now open for volunteers for the Special Olympics World Games at www.losangeles2015.org. The World Games are a huge undertaking, requiring the help of approximately 30,000 volunteers in a wide variety of capacities. Volunteering for the Special Olympics World Games is a tremendously rewarding experience – volunteers help create incredible memories for the 7,000 athletes from 170 countries, along with 3,000 coaches, 6,000 family members, 5,000 VIPs and dignitaries and an expected 500,000 spectators over nine days. A range of volunteer opportunities will be available, from competition venues, hospitality, and language services to media relations and administration. To register as a volunteer or for more information, click here.
The Special Olympics World Games on Dec. 3 also launched its “Support-An-Athlete” program, offering individuals or groups the opportunity to join together online to form their own fundraising pages to raise $2,500 to support a particular athlete's participation in the Special Olympic Games. Every $2,500 will be matched, and the funds will go to support one more athlete competing in the Games. The $2,500 covers an athlete's expenses after arriving in Los Angeles, including all food, housing, transportation, medical care and entertainment at the Athlete Villages at USC and UCLA. This is a fun, rewarding way to support an important cause, and all donations are tax-deductible. To sign up, or for information about existing fundraising teams, click here. www.support.LA2015.org.
