The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum has announced the initial presenters, performers and ticketing information for the 28th Annual Rock and Rock Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, which is taking place for the first time in Los Angeles. The ceremony, which gathers many of the biggest names in music, is taking place at Microsoft Theater in Downtown on Thursday, April 18, 2013

This year’s illustrious group of inductees includes singer-songwriter Randy Newman, whose hit single I Love LA has become the unofficial anthem of Los Angeles. I Love LA is played after a victory by the city’s home teams, including the Lakers, the Dodgers, and the Galaxy. The song is also played by the 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings after each goal. In addition to his pop songs, Newman is well-known for his film scores, including six Disney-Pixar movies. During his career, Newman has been nominated for twenty Academy Awards, winning Best Original Song twice, for Monsters Inc. and Toy Story 3. He has also won five Grammys and three Emmys. In 2002, Newman was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. 1998 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Don Henley will induct Newman at the April 18th ceremony.

Joining Newman are his fellow inductees: Heart, Albert King, Public Enemy, Rush and Donna Summer. Lou Adler and Quincy Jones are this year’s recipients of the Ahmet Ertegun Award for Lifetime Achievement. Special guests scheduled to appear at the induction ceremony include: John Mayer and Gary Clark Jr., who will perform for King, with Mayer giving the induction speech; Christina Aguilera and Jennifer Hudson, who will perform in honor of Summer; and Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters, who will induct Rush.
