Lucha VaVoom de La Liz (Feb. 14-15, 2024)



The mind-blowing mash-up of Mexican wrestling, burlesque and comedy now known as Lucha VaVoom de La Liz is taking over the famed Mayan Theatre on Wednesday and Thursday, February 14-15.

Dubbed "La Venganza del Amor" ("The Revenge of Love"), the Valentine's shows feature LVVDLL's signature brand of sexo y violencia, including an all-star lineup of luchadores, burlesque goddesses, aerialists, contortionists, a lowrider show and much more. The raucous commentary comes courtesy of comedian Blaine Capatch, who is often joined by pals like Drew Carey and Andy Richter.

Tickets for this 21+ event are $45 for General Admission (Mezzanine & Balcony) and $65 for Ringside Seating & Standing (non-reserved).

Street Food Cinema: Lovestruck Cinema (Feb. 10 & 14, 2024)



One of LA's most popular outdoor movie series, Street Food Cinema is presenting "Lovestruck Cinema" at the landmark Million Dollar Theatre in Downtown LA. The Rocky Horror Picture Show screens on Saturday, February 10 with a Shadow Cast performance by Sins o' the Flesh. On Valentine's Day, Romeo + Juliet will screen with burlesque by Cabaret Versatile.

Tickets are on sale at the Street Food Cinema website, with options ranging from General Admission to the Sweetheart Single, Romance Package for two and the Deluxe Lovestruck Experience - two reserved seats, two glasses of sangria, two popcorn and a sweet treat. Outside food from Grand Central Market is permitted. Two full bars at the theatre, no outside alcohol is allowed.

Cinespia: "The Notebook" (Feb. 14, 2024)



"If you’re a bird, I’m a bird." Celebrate summer love that lasts a lifetime with a 20th anniversary screening of The Notebook, presented by Cinespia at the stunning Los Angeles Theatre.

Directed by Nick Cassavetes, The Notebook stars Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams as a young couple who fall in love in the 1940s. Their story is told in flashback by an elderly man who reads from a notebook to a fellow nursing home resident.

Along with the movie, the event includes live performances, DJ sets, full bars and a photo booth. Formal dress or themed attire is encouraged!

Tickets are $45 for General Admission and $95 for Premium Admission, which includes skipping the entry and photo booth lines; free photo booth print and premium bar line access.

Located in the Downtown LA Arts District, Angel City Brewery is hosting its annual Broken Hearts Circus – a celebration of the single, the third wheels, and everything in between.

Taking place on Sunday, February 18, the circus features aerialists, stilt-walkers, contortionists, jugglers, sword swallowers, tarot card readers and more as the Public House transforms into a big top tent for the day.

On Thursday, February 15, Philosophical Research Society presents EXP TV's Love Is…, featuring a unique lineup of 16mm films, screwy original EXP TV shorts and other mating rituals. The highlight of the evening is a rare 16mm screening of a sweet 1970s after school special!

Bollywood in Hollywood (BIH) presents the annual Love Aaj Kal: Bollywood Valentine's Party on Friday, February 9 at the legendary Catch One. Whether you're single and ready to mingle, or already attached, Love Aaj Kal is the Bollywood-style Valentine's party of your dreams. BIH notes there's a special dress code: red (taken), black (available) and white (maybe).

Time to Fall in Love - Academy Museum (Feb. 14, 2024)



The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures is celebrating Valentine's Day with a matinee of Casablanca and the separately ticketed Time to Fall in Love Tour. One of the greatest and most romantic movies of all time, Casablanca will be screening in 35mm at 2pm in the David Geffen Theater.

Experience the Academy Museum in a new way with the Time to Fall in Love Tour, led by museum educators as they highlight the core exhibition, Stories of Cinema. Explore Level Two with educators as they spotlight the timeless love story of Casablanca (1942), the haunting romance of Alfred Hitchcock’s Rebecca (1940), and the costume design of movies such as September Affair (1950) and Mamma Mia! (2008). On Level Three, educators will highlight the dramatic style of Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar; the devastating love and design of Emily from Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride (2005); and the blissfully macabre Morticia Addams from The Addams Family (1991). Tours are scheduled for 4pm, 4:30pm and 5pm and will meet at the Netflix Lounge on Level 2. These special tours are first-come, first-served.

New Beverly Cinema (Feb. 12-18, 2024)



Quentin Tarantino's indie movie theater, the New Beverly Cinema, is screening double features throughout Valentine's Week: Comrades, Almost a Love Story / Cupid One (Feb. 12), Bonnie and Clyde / True Romance (Feb. 13-15) and Casablanca / Before Sunset (Feb. 16-18). On Saturday, February 10, Skate Oddity presents Valentines & Frankensteins, a "monstrous" Skate Date taking place from 4pm to 8pm at the LA Kings Burbank Sports Center.

Skate Oddity DJs will spin a soundtrack of goth, 80's, synth and rock & roll for your skate macabre! Costumes are encouraged - think Frankenstein's Monster, the Bride, Mad Scientist, Igor etc. Besides skating, you can shop "Valloween" vendors; nosh on vegan comfort food by Leaf Over Beef; get a reading from Fantasma Witch and much more.

Priced at $1,098 per couple, the Malibu Mountaintop Landing Tour includes a private 45-minute helicopter tour and 30 minutes of personal time on the peak with a complimentary photo, champagne toast, assorted chocolates and berries, and a rose. Other packages include the exclusive DTLA Rooftop Landing and 30-minute Cupid's Tour.

Orbic Air also boasts the closest views of the iconic Hollywood Sign with its ten-minute Lover's Tour, which includes bird's eye views of Universal Studios Hollywood and the Griffith Observatory.

Valentine's Rides - The Zimmerman (Feb. 11, 2024)



Located in El Segundo a half-mile south of LAX, the Zimmerman Automobile Driving Museum (ZADM) displays a rotating selection of more than 130 vintage automobiles. The ZADM is the only automobile museum in the world that takes guests for rides in the fleet.

On February 11, the Zimmerman is hosting Sunday Sweetheart Valentine's Rides from 10am to 3pm. FREE with admission to the museum, the family-friendly event includes chauffeured rides in a classic car, along with complimentary champagne and chocolate tasting. NOTE: children must be at least 10 years old or 55″ tall to ride in a vintage vehicle.

Suggested admission donation is $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, $5 for children ages 11-17, and free for kids under 10.

Esters Wine Shop is toasting to love all day long! Starting at noon on Valentine's Day, Sommelier Randall Middleton is pouring Champagne by the glass from magnums to pair with oysters, caviar and cheese & charcuterie platters. And with 2024 Champagne Resolutions, Esters will be offering some of the best deals in town on bottles. Starting at 5pm, Chef de Cuisine Sheyna McCallister will be cooking up a decadent Prime Rib to pair with a themed wine flight. Walk-ins are welcome, but booking a table at Resy is highly recommended.

 

On Sunday, February 11, Esters will host a Val/Gal-entine's Day Flower Workshop with local florist Krystal Chang. All flowers, vases and tools will be provided. Each participant will take home their own floral arrangement. The workshop includes a glass of sparkling rosé and housemade chocolate truffles by Esters. Tickets are $155.
