EXPLORER FERNREISEN / AIR FRANCE FAM, LOS ANGELES. OCT. 2-4
The LATCB’s International Team partnered with German travel agency Explorer Fernreisen and Air France to host a FAM trip for nine German sales and product managers and an Air France representative. LATCB took the group on a tour to showcase member and partner properties and promote LA’s top-line attractions, hotels and restaurants.
WORLD ROUTES 2013, LAS VEGAS. OCT. 5-8
LATCB partnered with Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) to promote the new Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX during the 19th Annual World Route Development Forum 2013 in Las Vegas, Oct. 5-8. World Routes is dedicated solely to the development of new international air routes, and this year’s event was the largest to date, attracting nearly 3,000 high-profile delegates from more than 100 countries and 300 airlines. The LATCB team sponsored the global media center and met with a total of 35 international and domestic carriers during the show to promote new service to the Los Angeles area. This was the first time that World Routes was held in the U.S.
The World Routes Strategy & Tourism Summits also ran on a parallel track attended by more than 1,000 delegates, with discussions on current industry issues. LATCB President & CEO Ernest Wooden Jr. participated in a panel discussion with other leading tourism industry experts.

LATCB’s International Team partnered with British Airways and Visit California to bring 60 agents in two different groups to destinations all over the state, with a major stop in Los Angeles. During the Los Angeles segment, numerous hotels, attractions and other LATCB partners were showcased during two specialized itineraries - Family and Luxury. The participants were all travel trade professionals specializing in booking travel in California for the leisure market in the U.K. and Ireland.
LAKERS PROMOTION, OCT. 15 & 18. BEIJING & SHANGHAI CHINA
Taking advantage of the immense popularity of Kobe Bryant and the Lakers in China, LA’s top overseas market, the LATCB International Team hosted a group of trade and media VIPs at two sold-out Lakers exhibition games in Beijing and Shanghai on Oct. 15 and 18. It offered the chance to showcase one of LA’s unique sports entertainment attractions – the Los Angeles Lakers – for travel trade professionals who plan group travel to the U.S., and to gain earned media highlighting LA. As part of the effort, LATCB also ran a consumer digital promotion awarding 50 lucky fans in each city the opportunity to attend the games. Game tickets, highly coveted by Chinese consumers, sold out in six minutes in China and the entire effort generated significant excitement for the Lakers and LA in China.
BRITISH AIRWAYS AND AMERICAN EXPRESS, OCT. 24 – 26. LOS ANGELES
LATCB’s International Team partnered with British Airways and American Express on a FAM trip, taking 10 corporate travel managers to visit some of LA’s most exciting attractions and activities on a city tour.
MOVIE SCREENING FOR TRAVEL TRADE CLIENTS, OCT. 29-30. WASHINGTON, D.C. & CHICAGO
LATCB and Universal Studios Hollywood partnered on VIP promotional events in Washington, D.C. and Chicago, Oct. 29-30 to promote LA and the Hollywood experience to major association planners. Approximately 100 clients were part of a VIP reception and private screening of the Universal Pictures film, “About Time.”
IMEX AMERICA 2013
LATCB exhibited at the IMEX America 2013 event at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas, Oct. 15-17 with a 20’ x 30’ booth in a prime location. We were joined by eight booth partners, including L.A. LIVE, Wolfgang Puck Catering, SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills, JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE, The London West Hollywood, Hilton Los Angeles Airport, Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles and Paramount Pictures Studios. LATCB met with 57 qualified clients during pre-scheduled, one-on-one appointments and 71 clients during pre-scheduled group appointments. More than 132 total appointments took place in the Los Angeles booth on the IMEX show floor. Overall, 165 leads were developed for Los Angeles.
IMEX AMERICA POST FAM
Immediately following IMEX America, LATCB partnered with Allied PRA and Intercontinental Century City to host nine hosted buyers from Australia to showcase the destination. Guests arrived Oct. 17 for three days and visited special event venues such as Universal Studios Hollywood, The Studios at Paramount, The California Science Center, The GRAMMY Museum, Conga Room, Malibu Family Winery, Santa Monica Pier and the W Hollywood Hotel. Los Angeles has already developed RFP's from the post-familiarization event.
