NTA/UMA TRAVEL EXCHANGE 2014 IN LOS ANGELES

LATCB was proud to welcome Travel Exchange 2014 to the Los Angeles Convention Center, Feb. 16-20. The conference is produced by the National Travel Association (NTA) and the United Motorcoach Assocation (UMA) and is a citywide convention combining NTA’s Annual Convention and UMA Motorcoach EXPO – creating a unique travel industry event with 3,500 American and Canadian travel buyers and sellers on the same floor. Hosting this large tradeshow provided an opportunity to showcase L.A.’s unique attractions and LATCB members and partners to the travel trade. LATCB hosted extended sightseeing tours for the delegates to L.A. member attractions. LATCB had 45 confirmed appointments as well as networking opportunities throughout the four-day conference.

Local heroes Los Lobos return to the Greek on May 3 with the third annual Cinco de Mayo Festival, featuring special guests Ozomatli, Mariachi el Bronx and more. On May 8, Talking Heads frontman David Byrne leads an all-star tribute to Nigerian funk musician William Onyeabor, featuring members of LCD Soundsystem, Hot Chip, Bloc Party and more. May 24 offers a night of legends at Up in Smoke 2014, featuring WAR, Cheech & Chong, and the Family Stone.

Mardi Gras, aka “Fat Tuesday,” is the annual celebration that culminates Carnival season. Mardi Gras takes place the day before Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent, the traditional 40-day period of fasting and prayer before Easter. The largest Carnival celebration in the world takes place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which welcomes two million revelers each year. In the United States, Mardi Gras is synonymous with the city of New Orleans, which celebrates for two weeks with parades, balls and king cake parties.

On Tuesday, March 4, there are Mardi Gras celebrations taking place throughout Los Angeles. From historic Olvera Street and the Original Farmers Market, to bars and restaurants across LA, here are the best places for you to shout, “Laissez les bons temps rouler!”
